2010-2011 Inaugural Women’s Wellness Program Awards

We congratulate the recipients of the Inaugural Women for ATSU (formerly Women’s Wellness) Program Awards and look forward to their continued success in their endeavors.  Over $15,000 in combined funding has been awarded to the following inaugural recipients of the Program Awards.

BRITE Program

Dental Patient Transportation
Victoria Michaels

Bridging Resources In Treatment & Education (BRITE), a patient advocate program available to patients of ATSU’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ATSU-ASDOH), was awarded $3,000 to provide transportation vouchers for patients who have no other means of getting to and from the dental clinic.


Physician Assistant Studies

Noelle Maternal and Neonatal Birthing Simulator
Emily Babcock

ATSU-ASHS’ Physician Assistant program was awarded $4,000 for the purchase of a birthing simulator manikin for the women’s health clinical medicine course.


Alaskan Global Outreach Program

Portable Nomad hand-held x-ray system
Dr. Maureen Romer

The Alaskan global outreach program comprises ATSU-ASDOH students and faculty who visit rural villages in Alaska to provide dental care to underserved populations, specifically school-age children. The program was awarded $8,500 for the purchase of a portable hand-held X-ray system.
